My name is Anna. I am a ‘mum who makes’ or an ‘Anna who does’ and annadoos was born out of my passion for all things handmade.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved making cards and presents for my family and friends. Over the years I have dabbled with cross stitch, glass painting, fimo modelling, knitting, card craft, felting and sewing. Many of my skills are self-taught, with the help of craft books and the internet, and some were learnt at local workshops. I gained the confidence to use a sewing machine, when my friend, Jo (www.joannakeen.co.uk ) started running sewing workshops. I decided to give it a go and started off small with cushions and bunting. Before I knew it I was making doll’s clothes for my daughter and dribble bibs for my tiny niece. Friends and family soon ‘cottoned on’ (pardon the pun!) and began requesting an array of handmade items. The list of things I can make just keeps growing and growing. I love to sell my items at local craft fayres and markets.
Whilst researching my website I stumbled across this anonymous but very apt statement:
'When you buy from a family owned business, you are not helping a CEO buy a third holiday home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team strip, a Mum or Dad put food on the table, a family pay a mortgage or a student pay for college. Our customers are our shareholders and they are the ones we strive to make happy.’
My passion for making things has given me an amazing opportunity to build a small business which works around my family life and I am truly grateful to all who have (and continue to) support me.
I hope you enjoy my items as much as I enjoy making them and look forward to you seeing you soon at annadoos.
